My name is Katie Reid, I am a fully qualified counsellor and a registered Member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer a humanistic integrative approach to counselling which puts you at the center of the work we do.
In my humanistic counselling practice, I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions. As sometimes space to process what has, or is happening is powerful in helping us to get where we want to be. In our sessions together I put you at the heart of the work we do and use various theories which can allow exploration, understanding and acceptance in your journey.
The relationship is key in our work together and I feel it is really important that we have a brief talk before your first appointment is made. This is so you can get a feel for what I can offer you and how therapy can support you.
I am dedicated to supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, particularly those affected by domestic abuse. I currently work at STARS (Sexual Trauma and Recovery Services) a charity in Poole, where I am actively involved in a project focused on providing comprehensive services to survivors of domestic abuse. My work entails a range of responsibilities, including crisis intervention, counselling, advocacy, and community outreach. I am passionate about empowering survivors to heal and rebuild their lives.
When seeking counselling, it's crucial to choose a therapist registered with a professional body like the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This ensures their qualifications, adherence to professional standards, and commitment to ethical practices. Moreover, if you encounter any concerns during therapy, a formal complaints process exists to address them.
