Hello, I’m Katie Reid, a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Based in Ringwood, I offer a humanistic integrative approach to counselling, thoughtfully tailored to meet your unique needs.
With a diverse background in both holistic practices and mental health, I bring a distinctive perspective to the mind-body connection. After years of working in reflexology, holistic therapies and beauty, I transitioned into counselling, where I now support individuals in navigating their mental and emotional well-being. My experience, coupled with my background in mental health in Australia, has deepened my understanding of the intricate relationship between the brain and body. Through my study and research in neuroscience, physiology, and somatic practices, I’ve gained valuable insights into how the nervous system influences both mental and physical health. I’m passionate about sharing this knowledge with you, helping you deepen your understanding of your experiences and cultivate a greater sense of self-compassion.
I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Sometimes, simply having space to process what has happened or is happening can be a powerful step towards getting where you want to be. In our sessions together, I put you at the heart of the work we do, drawing on various therapeutic approaches to allow for exploration, understanding, and acceptance along your journey.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is central to my practice. I am committed to ongoing learning to ensure my work remains ethical, current, and responsive to my clients’ needs.
I am a member Hampshire Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (HACP), attending regular workshops and CPD events. I also participate in and facilitate a monthly peer support group to reflect on practice and professional judgement, and I attend 1.5 hours of supervision each monthly to ensure accountability, depth, and high standards of care.
I regularly share reflections from my professional development, along with insights from training, research and practice, in my monthly blog and reflections email — you are very welcome to join.

I have previously worked with STARS Sexual Trauma and Recovery Services as a sessional counsellor for a number of years, contributing to a specialist project providing comprehensive support to survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. My role included delivering trauma-informed counselling, undertaking client assessments, and supporting individuals in rebuilding safety, autonomy, and a sense of personal empowerment. This work further strengthened my commitment to helping survivors process their experiences and move forward with resilience and self-compassion.
Trauma is a specialist focus of my practice. I support individuals who have experienced controlling or coercive relationships, domestic or sexual abuse, childhood trauma, sexual assault, rape, and non-recent (historic) abuse. My approach is trauma-informed, compassionate, and grounded in creating a sense of safety, trust, and empowerment.
