Hello, I’m Katie Reid, a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Based in Ringwood and Salisbury, I offer a humanistic integrative approach to counselling, thoughtfully tailored to meet your unique needs.
With a diverse background in both holistic practices and mental health, I bring a distinctive perspective to the mind-body connection. After years of working in reflexology, holistic therapies and beauty, I transitioned into counselling, where I now support individuals in navigating their mental and emotional well-being. My experience, coupled with my background in mental health in Australia, has deepened my understanding of the intricate relationship between the brain and body. Through my study and research in neuroscience, physiology, and somatic practices, I’ve gained valuable insights into how the nervous system influences both mental and physical health. I’m passionate about sharing this knowledge with you, helping you deepen your understanding of your experiences and cultivate a greater sense of self-compassion.
I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Sometimes, simply having space to process what has happened or is happening can be a powerful step towards getting where you want to be. In our sessions together, I put you at the heart of the work we do, drawing on various therapeutic approaches to allow for exploration, understanding, and acceptance along your journey.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and ongoing training are essential to my counselling practice . They allow me to expand my knowledge, refine my skills, and stay up-to-date with the latest research and therapeutic approaches. Through CPD and training, I ensure that I can provide the highest quality of care, meet the evolving needs of my clients, and maintain ethical, evidence-based practice.
In addition to my counselling work, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, particularly those affected by domestic abuse, Sexual abuse and Rape.
I currently work with STARS (Sexual Trauma and Recovery Services) in Poole, where I’m involved in a project that provides comprehensive support to survivors of domestic abuse and other sexual violence/assault. My role at STARS is counselling, assessments, and empowering survivors to heal and rebuild their lives. I'm passionate about helping individuals regain control and move forward with strength and resilience.
I have experience working with victims/survivors of;
